AI Architect
Are you ready to be a big part of something big?
At Trader Interactive, we make buying and selling a great experience. We’re a group of go-getters who decided they didn’t want to settle for the status quo. We come together as one team to build value and drive innovation across our industries - but we have fun while we do it and make sure our people are always our #1 priority.
When it comes to your career, we want to provide big opportunities to help you make a big impact. But for this to be possible, we strive to feel small. Small enough to quickly change tack, small enough to learn from different teams and small enough to connect authentically with leadership.
And one of the best parts? We give you the freedom to work from whatever working location works best for you and your lifestyle - yes, this means you can be 100% remote if you want to be!
What We Offer
An inclusive and supportive work environment where you can move your career forward and will have the chance to do work that has real, significant impact on the world.
The opportunity to be a part of a global group of digital marketplace businesses (CAR Group) located across Australia, Brazil, Chile and South Korea - collectively we have around 1,800 team members worldwide, and our Global Talent Exchange Program means you might just find yourself working in one of those businesses sometime soon.
Plenty of flexible leave options and employee benefits including up to 31 days of paid time off in your first year, continuing education with access to LinkedIn Learning, a full benefits package including medical, dental & vision, 401K with company match, and wellness program.
What You’ll Do
The AI Architect is responsible for designing and evolving Trader Interactive’s AI platforms and reference architectures — enabling connecting data, machine learning, and large language models into real products that help buyers and sellers of RVs, boats, powersports, airplanes, trucks, and equipment. They work across Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Security to turn business problems into scalable AI solutions, balancing speed of experimentation with reliability, cost, and responsible AI practices.
Define the end-to-end AI/ML architecture for TI (data pipelines, feature stores, training, online inference, monitoring) and own the reference patterns teams use again and again.
Evaluate and select AI tooling and platforms (LLMs, vector stores, feature stores, orchestration, observability) in our primarily AWS-centric BUT cloud provide agnostic environment, with a clear well substantiated opinion on build vs. buy.
Provide technical mentorship to data scientists and engineers through design reviews, pairing on critical paths, and clear architectural documentation.
Continuously scan the AI landscape (LLMs, multi-modal models, recommender systems, pricing and risk models) and recommend pragmatic technologies that improve product performance, developer velocity, or cost.
Partner with Security, Legal, and Compliance to define and enforce responsible AI guardrails, including data privacy, model governance, safety filters, model usage policies, and auditability.
Design AI solutions that run reliably in production (high-availability, observable, cost-aware), with clear patterns for experimentation (staging/sandboxes) and safe rollout (A/B tests, gradual exposure).
Help implement the systems and processes needed to manage model lifecycle: versioning, evaluation, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, rollback, and cost/performance tuning.
Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Sales to turn fuzzy ideas into concrete AI use cases with clear success metrics and realistic delivery plans.
Translate user and business needs (dealers, consumers, internal teams) into AI solution designs that respect time, data, and system constraints — and clearly communicate the trade-offs.
Partner closely with the Head of Analytics & Insights and AI Product leadership to align AI architecture with TI’s broader marketplace strategy (pricing, merchandising, consumer intelligence, dealer intelligence etc).
Lead or support AI-heavy initiatives such as intelligent search and recommendations, dynamic pricing, lead/propensity scoring, fraud/risk models, and conversational assistants for buyers, sellers, and internal teams.
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of experience building software, data, or distributed systems, including significant experience designing or leading ML/AI solutions in production.
Strong experience working with cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred) and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery, streaming/queues, APIs, microservices).
Deep understanding of applied machine learning and/or LLM-based systems: data preparation, feature engineering, training and inference patterns, evaluation, and monitoring in production.
Hands-on familiarity with at least some of the following: vector databases, RAG patterns, prompt engineering/guardrails, model registries, feature stores, workflow orchestration, and observability for ML/AI.
Relevant training and/or certifications in cloud, data, or ML/AI architecture (or equivalent real-world track record of shipping AI systems at scale).
Ability to move comfortably between high-level architecture (C-suite and product discussions) and low-level detail (API contracts, data models, performance constraints).
Clear, concise communication style — able to explain complex AI systems to non-technical stakeholders without overselling or hand-waving.
Bonus Points:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field
Experience leading projects from inception to completion
Experience building AI or data platforms for marketplaces, ad-tech, e-commerce, or similar high-volume environments.
Experience working closely with data science teams and shaping reusable patterns (templates, libraries, playbooks) that make them faster and more consistent.
Experience with personalization, recommendations, pricing/valuation models, or fraud/risk modelling.
So come and join our team - because every role is a big role in our plans to go big.
TI proudly supports a diverse workforce, and we encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply. Trader Interactive is an equal opportunity employer where hiring is based entirely on business needs, job requirements, and individual merit.
